Best jet ski routes in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi might be the best jet ski city in the Gulf: warm water year-round, a protected coastline, and landmarks that were practically designed to be seen from the sea. These are the four routes we ride ourselves, in order of difficulty.
1. Corniche Cruise, easy
30 to 60 minutes. Beginner friendly.Launch from the marina and run the full Corniche waterfront: eight kilometers of white sand, turquoise shallows and the city skyline riding shotgun the whole way. The water stays calm inside the breakwater, which makes this the route we give every first-timer.
Highlights: Corniche Beach, the Breakwater, Flag Island photo stop, a swim break in the shallows. Best at 09:00, when the water is glass and the beach is empty. See the fullroute libraryfor the map.
2. Emirates Palace Run, moderate
60 to 90 minutes.Head west past the marina toward the great golden dome of Emirates Palace. From the water it looks like something from another century, especially in late afternoon light. Loop the palace bay, then cut back along the mangrove edge with the Etihad Towers behind you.
This is our most requestedguided tourroute. The palace bay can get choppy in afternoon wind, so mornings or the last two hours before sunset ride best.
3. Louvre by Water, moderate
90 to 120 minutes.Cross to Saadiyat Island and watch the Louvre Abu Dhabi dome rise out of the sea. It is one of the great modern views in the Gulf, and almost nobody sees it from this angle. Continue around natural Al Lulu Island, a quiet, undeveloped island ten minutes offshore, for a swim stop before heading home.
Bring a waterproof phone pouch for this one. The dome shot is the photo our guests print.
4. Outer Islands Expedition, advanced
2 to 4 hours. Guided only, members and private tours.Open-water running to the outer islands: tidal sandbanks, gin-clear lagoons and water so empty you will check the horizon twice. This is the route that converts casual riders intoclub members.
Weather dependent and tide dependent, which is exactly why it stays special. Your captain briefs the plan on the dock, and the plan can change with the wind.
Photo tips from our guides
- Golden hour is real. The 17:30 slot gives you warm light on the skyline and the palace dome. Book thesunset cruiseif photos are the point.
- Secure the phone. We provide dry bags, but a floating waterproof pouch is worth buying before you fly in.
- Let the guide shoot. Our crew takes free ride photos on every trip. Put the phone away for at least half the ride and actually look at the city.
- Morning for glass, evening for gold.Calmest water is 09:00 to 11:00. Best light is the last 90 minutes of the day.
